Slowly leaving Cancerland
07/26/10 10:26 PM

Hello!

I just realized how long it’s been since my last update. Things have slowed down in Cancerland quite significantly (I’m not complaining!) so that’s why I haven’t updated in so long. I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer which is almost over. I could’ve sworn it was May just a few days ago….

I finished radiation on Friday July 2, 2010 after being zapped every day (except weekends) for 28 treatments. In my last update I mentioned that I had taken 3 days off from radiation (June 23-25) because my skin was pretty burnt from treatment. Well, I resumed treatment on Monday June 28th for my last week. I was definitely feeling tired and just wiped out and when I went to work on Monday my boss could tell too. After having an unexpected breakdown in his office he told me to go home and take the rest of the week off. I tried to tell him I only needed a day or two off but he told me not to worry about work and to take care of myself. I am seriously so lucky to have such an amazing boss and of course so grateful!! So I was off work Tuesday to Friday and had the 4th of July long weekend. And the best part was I did absolutely nothing Tuesday-Friday. I knew I was feeling tired from treatment, but I didn’t realize how badly I needed the time off to allow my body to rest until I was at home resting. It was like I was on a high-speed train going through surgery, recovery and treatments and convincing myself that I was feeling fine. But honestly, I think part of me was afraid to slow down. I just want to get through all of it as fast as possible, but I realized how important it is to just slow down and relax. So, since finishing radiation treatment 3 weeks ago, that’s what I’ve been doing. My energy level is coming back up although I still have a few days where I feel pretty tired at the end of the day, like today. Although I attribute the tiredness from today to the LA traffic I had to deal with this afternoon driving from Santa Monica to East LA to pick up my compression glove for lymphedema (for those of you not in LA they are at opposite ends of the city).

I had my 8th Herceptin treatment July 13th and that went well, in and out in about an hour. I saw Dr. V my oncologist the day before to get my CBC (complete blood count) and my white cell count was a little low, but nothing to be concerned about. Radiation can have an effect on blood counts so that’s why it was low. While I was with Dr. V I asked him what’s next in terms of follow up tests and how will I know if the treatment has worked. Unfortunately, there’s no easy answer. First of all, there is no test (yet) that will tell us that I am cancer free or cured. Any test that exists has some limit on the smallest amount of cancer that it can detect and sometimes shows abnormalities not due to cancer. This includes blood tests and scans such as MRI and CT/PET. So that’s the bad news. But the good news is the known cancer was removed during surgery and chemo and radiation are preventive treatments used in case there was any cancer left over that couldn’t be removed surgically. The next time I see Dr. V, I will have blood work done to test for tumor markers. Tumor markers are proteins produced by cancer cells that are released into the blood stream. But like I said, we cant rely solely on blood tests, so another large part of my follow up care will consist of self breast exams and physical exams with Dr. V and Dr. D my breast surgeon and basic lab tests to monitor the functions of the liver, kidney, bones, etc. For breast cancer, I can’t say I’m cured, but there’s a term called “ No Evidence of Disease” or NED. So, if my tumor marker test comes back ok, then I’ll be able to say I’m NED. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for NED!

But enough already about Cancerland.

Andy and I are doing really well and enjoying the summer. We’ve had some unusually “cool” summer weather this year. We had June gloom and it has lasted into July. Most mornings it’s very overcast and the sun comes out later in the afternoon inland, but stays mostly cloudy by the beach. I work in Santa Monica by the ocean, so it’s usually cloudy all day there, and as I’m driving home to Hollywood (inland) the clouds slowly disappear. We’ve been to the movies a few times and saw Inception and Salt. Inception was great, Salt not so much. Yesterday Andy, Remington and I went to a dog beach in Long Beach that’s about 45 minutes away. It’s the only beach around that dogs can legally be off leash. It’s a very small part of the beach but it’s better than nothing. Remington had no interest in the water whatsoever, but finally got in after taking hints from the other dogs who were splashing around having a great time. It was a perfect Sunday.

I’ve been getting back to doing some physical activity. The gym at work has a yoga class that I go to 3 times a week and I’m loving it. I go during my lunch break and it’s a great way to break up the workday and clear my mind. Behind our apartment there’s a park called Runyon Canyon with hiking trails and a large grassy area where there are free yoga classes offered everyday Monday-Sunday. My friend Courtney and I went a few Saturdays ago to a power yoga class. It was intense but felt great! Andy and I went hiking on Tuesday with Remington after work. I’ve put up a few new pictures in the photo gallery from the hike. Remington loves going because he can be off leash and sniff all over the place. It’s a good work out and good training for the walk coming up in September. I’m getting excited for the walk and need to start walking everyday. I walked 10 miles a few Saturday’s ago, but need to get up to 20. Yikes!

I have the kayaking camp coming up soon too! I leave August 29th and come back September 4th. I can’t wait to get out of LA and breathe some crisp clean Vail air. I have my airfare booked and now just need to get my bags packed. But that should be easy enough, I think I’ll just pack some sweat pants, t-shirts, a bathing suit, and hoodie.

Last but not least, my hair is still growing! I really didn’t think it would grow as fast as it has been. The pictures I posted were taken on 7/20/2010 so I’m about 4 months from the end of chemo and it’s long enough to style into a mini Mohawk which I did on Saturday. It’s funky and fun and I’m having fun with the short hair while I have it! I’ve been going without my wig on the weekend sometimes, like to the beach, pool, walking Remington in the morning. I’m not sure when I’ll go without my wig to work, probably not for a while. I’m still wearing my wig using double-sided tape, but I don’t know how long I’ll be able to continue using the tape. Plus, the wig unfortunately will not last forever since it’s human hair. I know Piny had mentioned the possibility of doing extensions, so we’ll see what the options (and cost) are for that. I’m feeling comfortable with the short hair, so maybe once it gets a bit longer I’ll only use the wig every now and then.

If you’re still reading, thank you! Sorry this update was so long. I keep telling myself to update more frequently so I don’t have to write so much at one time, but that hasn’t happened yet. Thank you for all the love and support. My 1 year anniversary is just around the corner (crazy!), so thank you for sticking with me throughout all of it. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of friends and family. I love all of you!

Have a good week!

Love,
Sharishta

It's summertime! And only 1 week left of radiation
06/27/10 12:28 PM

I hope everyone has been enjoying the summer so far! We’ve been experiencing some heavy June gloom so hopefully now that July is around the corner we’ll be seeing more sunshine.

Andy and I have been taking it easy on the weekends. On June 5th, we went to Universal Studios which is very close to our apartment. It was our first time to Universal Hollywood and we had a great time. We have annual passes which allow us to go anytime for a whole year, no black out dates. Since we can go whenever we want, we decided to ride a few rides and have lunch. We arrived early and went on the Simpson’s ride, the Studio tour, the Mummy ride, and got soaked on the Jurassic park ride. It was a hot day! The King Kong ride was burned in the studio fire in 2008 and they finished the new one, which is in 3D, and it opens in July. We’ll definitely be going back to ride that sometime this summer.

On Saturday June 12th, I went on an Avon Training Walk. There were about 25 other women there who are also training for the Walk in September. The path was about 6.5 miles and I walked it in a little less than 2 hours. I ended up walking with Suzanne who is also a survivor and we shared our stories with each other for the whole 2-hour walk. We exchanged numbers and hopefully we can keep in touch!

Last Sunday, Remington and I went hiking at Runyon Canyon. It’s a trail behind our apartment in the Hollywood Hills and dogs can be off leash, which is a nice treat for Remington. There aren’t many places like that in Los Angeles so we’re really lucky to have Runyon Canyon so close by. In the summertime you have to go pretty early because it gets very hot up there. It’s a busy place and there’s never a shortage of people or dogs. It’s a great place to do people watching too. There are people there like me and Remington who are exercising and enjoying the beautiful day, there are beautiful women in full makeup and very handsome men without their shirts on hoping to get a date or be discovered, and if you’re lucky you’ll see an actor or someone from a reality TV show.

Andy and I have seen a couple movies this month: The A-Team with Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper (YUM!) and Jessica Beal based on the 80’s TV show with Mr. T. I really liked it and of course liked the parts where Bradley Cooper’s shirtless. There was a lot of action, explosions, and over the top scenes. On Friday night we saw Knight and Day with Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise. There were some funny parts and Tom Cruise did a good job. Tom Cruise has received a lot of negative press in the last few years (crazy Scientology stuff, his marriage with Katie Holmes, etc) but he did a great job in the movie. He was on Jimmy Kimmel Friday night (which is filmed next to Andy’s office building on Hollywood Blvd) and he was on a zip line from the roof of the down to the Chinese Theatre across the street. Andy got to see the whole thing in the afternoon when they filmed it and then we watched it on TV Friday night. Andy gets to see all kinds of movie premieres and special events from his office since it’s across the street from the Graumans Chinese Theatre. He’s also seen many actors get their Walk of Fame Star. Pretty cool!

I had Herceptin #7 on Friday June 18th. It went smoothly and we were only there about an hour. Only 10 more to go! The port is still doing well and no blood clots, so I hope it lasts for 10 more. Some people experience issues with their ports and have to have them removed, so I'm hoping mine keeps doing well.

I have 5 radiation treatments left to do so this upcoming week will be my last week of treatment! I'm having a total of 28 treatments. I’ve been feeling pretty tired the last 2 weeks. I start to feel tired in the afternoons at around 3pm when I’m on my way to radiation. It’s not a debilitating type of tired, but more like I could take a nice long nap. The other day I got home and laid down to take a “short” nap which turned into a nightlong sleep. I’ve also noticed some skin changes that began about 2 weeks ago. *The next paragraph might be too much info for some of you so just skip to the next paragraph.* I first noticed my skin darkening and then there were small black dots that started appearing on my boob. My Radiation Oncologist Dr. B said the dots were normal and was the radiation clogging the pores. By last Sunday, the dots were all over my boob and the skin in my armpit was starting to peel. When I saw Dr. B on Tuesday I had more peeling skin and it had become more irritated and red. She decided to give me the rest of the week off from treatment to give the skin time to heal and gave me a special mixture of cream to apply. The skin is still pretty irritated today, especially the arm pit area and looks raw. I’ve been covering the area with a padded surgical dressing and wrapped in an ace bandage to keep my clothes from rubbing and chaffing the skin. It feels better to wear a very loose t-shirt and no bra, but I don’t feel comfortable wearing a baggy t-shirt to work. I’m also peeling on my boob, but thankfully not as bad.

I’m also massaging the implant as much as possible to keep it from hardening due to the radiation and capsular contraction. The implant sits in a pocket in my chest and over time scar tissue surrounds the implant. The scar tissue is a result of the body’s natural defense mechanism to a foreign object. It sees the implant as something unnatural and wants to form a protective barrier around it. Capsular Contraction is a condition that can occur when the scar tissue around the implants becomes very hard and tightens around the implant. Capsular contraction can happen without radiation, but when you add radiation, it increases the chances. Experts believe massaging the implant can help keep the pocket loose and the scar tissue soft. So far, I have noticed the right radiated implant does feel a bit tighter and harder than the left one, but not significantly. I have to be diligent about the massages even after radiation is over, because the skin continues to change even after treatment. If I do get capsular contraction there are ways to fix it but it involves more surgery and depending on how damaged my skin is after radiation the options are limited. I’ll meet with my plastic surgeon Dr. K in August and we’ll see if revisions are necessary. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the implant doesn’t have too much damage. As of now, the only surgery I have left is the nipple surgery which could happen sometime in December. I know what I’m getting for Christmas this year…

My hair is growing back very quickly! This whole weekend I’ve gone without my wig and it feels really good. I still get funny looks from some people, but I think most of them probably think I’m just another LA hipster with a buzz cut. It’s growing back straight so far, and when I was at Piny’s yesterday picking up my wig, they said from the looks of how it’s growing in now, it may continue to grow in straight! I’m not holding my breath though since most survivors I know have curly post chemo hair. But that would be nice! The picture above was taken last Sunday, June 20th and it’s even a bit longer and more full today. I have a funny part that won’t go away, so I guess that’s my natural part. It’s on the right side and I can’t get it to go away!

Next Sunday, is already the 4th of July! And it’s also Andy’s birthday. Last year we went on a Cruise which was a blast. We don’t have anything planned yet, so we’ll see what we end up doing. I really miss 4th of July on the Cape and was hoping we would go this year, but things have been a little busy. So hopefully next year!

I want to wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July. And as always thank you for all the love and support. It’s what helps me stay positive and reminds me how wonderful life is.

Love and hugs,
Sharishta

Radiation- 10 down, 20-ish more to go??
06/02/10 10:40 PM

Radiation- 10 down, 20-ish more to go??

Today I had my 10th radiation treatment and so far it’s going really well! The first treatment was on May 20th and I will have somewhere around 30 treatments. I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I go everyday Monday through Friday. I have my designated 3:45pm time slot which works out well because it allows me to go to work for most of the day and then go straight home afterwards. It takes about 30 minutes from the time I walk in to the time I’m back in my car. The actual radiation only lasts a couple minutes, but setting me up on the machine is what is time consuming. There are specific angles and measurements that have been calculated so I receive radiation in the correct area being treated: right breast, axillary (arm pit) lymph nodes, and supraclavicular lymphnodes (near the collar bone). These measurements are important because they do not want to radiate my lungs which are nearby, the heart, or any other organs.

The main side effects from radiation are fatigue and a sun-burn in the area that is being radiated. These side effects don’t occur right away, but usually by the 3rd or 4th week I may start seeing some skin changes and start feeling a bit drained. The radiation nurses gave me a cream that I apply in the mornings, after radiation, and at night before bed to keep the skin moisturized. The down side to radiation so far is 1) no shaving in the right arm pit during radiation (ew!) 2) I can only use an all-natural deodorant such as Tom’s, cornstarch or go au natural. And I’ll just say that Tom’s is absolutely terrible. 3) I can’t lie out in the sun. I’ll sacrifice a tan this summer for my health, haha.

I must say that the staff at the cancer center is absolutely amazing and make my daily afternoon treatments pleasant. They are a perfect combination of caring and funny and really know how to make you feel comfortable and at ease. Plus there is always great music playing in the waiting room and in the radiation room.

Last Friday, May 28th, Andy and I went for my 6th Herceptin treatment. My chemo nurse was Virginia and she was really sweet. Treatment was really fast and we were done in an hour! So much better than the 4+ hours when I was going for chemo.

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. It was finally a warm weekend here! My friend Lauren was in town from DC visiting her sister so on Saturday we had lunch in Santa Monica and went bike riding along the beach. Sunday was nice and hot, so we had some friends over and bbq’d by the pool. I sported the foobies in a bathing suit for the first time and they looked good! Monday was a very lazy day for me and Andy and I enjoyed every minute of it!

I have a follow up with the plastic surgeon tomorrow and hopefully he’ll give me the ok to wear regular bras again. Wearing a sports bra 24/7 is so uncomfortable! Plus trying to wear cute outfits with a sports bra is impossible!

On Sunday Arleen and I are going to San Diego to cheer our friend Amanda who is running in the Rock and Roll Marathon. It’s her first marathon and I’m so excited for her! Not only has she been training for the marathon, but she was also raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. Go Amanda!! I also want to give a big shout out to my friends Nicole, Sarah, and Lauren who are participating in the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure in DC this weekend. Go RTL!!

The Avon Walk is also quickly approaching and Arleen and I are going to get back on schedule with our training and fundraising. I will keep everyone updated on our progress on here and on my personal Avon website http://info.avonfoundation.org/goto/sharishta. I also want to thank you all for your generosity and helping me reach my goal! I could not have done it without you!

I hope everyone’s short week is going by quickly. The weekend is almost here again!

Love,
Sharishta

PS: the picture of me above with Remington was on May 20th, almost 2 months after my last chemo on March 26th, and my hair is about 1/4 inch long....and it's grown a little bit more and has filled in a little more since then. And my eyebrows are coming back, yay!

Radiation on the horizon
05/16/10 10:36 PM

Tomorrow is my two-week anniversary with the foobies! I’ve been doing really well since surgery on May 3rd and the foobies are looking better every day!

Andy and I were at the outpatient facility bright and early at 7am. I saw Dr. K in the pre-op room where we confirmed the plans and he marked me up with his special purple pen. Surgery started at 10am on the dot, I remember seeing the clock in the OR before falling into a deep medicine induced sleep. Surgery took an hour and a half, then the recovery room, and was home by 2pm. I wasn’t in too much pain; it was more of a muscle soreness, which makes sense since the implants are placed underneath the muscle. I took Vicodin Monday and Tuesday and by Wednesday was feeling much better and only took one pill in the am and half in the evening. I was running a slight fever of 101.5 at around 6:30pm but by bedtime it was back to normal. I called the Dr. on call and he said it wasn’t anything to be concerned of and to just monitor it. Andy took the whole week off too and was amazing as always :)

Thursday May 6th was a very busy day. I had a post-op appointment with the plastic surgeon, a blood count visit with my oncologist, herceptin treatment in the afternoon at the cancer center, and then picked up my friend Sarah in the evening. At the plastic surgeon’s office the smelly mummy bandages were removed and I got my first look at my new assets…amazing! Dr. K did a wonderful job. They were swollen and slightly bruised but still looked nice and even and a great size. From there we headed off to my 5th herceptin treatment at the cancer center. I was treated in the short infusion area and we watched some Oprah and Tyra….maybe next time I’ll bring a movie or my computer.

I had a wonderful weekend with Sarah. It was her first time in California so on Friday we did some touristy things around LA: Hollywood Blvd, Rodeo Drive, The Grove, and dinner on Melrose. She even had a celeb sighting, Geoff Stults from October Road, and he is definitely good looking! On Saturday we spent the day in Laguna Beach shopping in the cute little stores and enjoyed lunch overlooking the ocean. The weather was beautiful! Later that night we went to Bar Marmont for a few drinks and ended the night at the Saddle Ranch watching drunken people ride the mechanical bull.

Sarah left Sunday morning and my Mom came Sunday night. I went back to work Monday morning. My mom has been really awesome and has driven me to and from work every day this past week. I’m not allowed to drive for 3 weeks after surgery so my mom has been nice enough to drive me around. It feels like high school all over again except instead of a 5-minute drive, it’s a 45-minute drive. We drink our coffee and listen to Ryan Seacrest’s morning radio show. She’s kept herself busy playing tennis every morning at the park near our apartment with the locals. It’s been so nice having her here and she leaves already next weekend. Time goes by too quickly!

On Tuesday I went to see my physical therapist because I noticed some swelling in my hand and lower arm a few days before my surgery. Unfortunately it is Stage 1 Lymphedema. Lymphedema is a condition that can occur when lymph nodes are removed and results in swelling in the hand and arm on the side where lymph nodes have been removed. If the swelling is caught early enough, it can be treated and reversed. However in some cases the swelling can progress and becomes irreversible. Stage 1 is still treatable. I have to wear a compression sleeve and glove for 3 months every day, go to physical therapy 1-2 times per week and continue the exercises at home. The swelling has gone down significantly but I have to continue with the therapy so hopefully it doesn’t turn into a long-term issue for me.

Thursday May 13th I had another follow up with Dr. K my plastic surgeon and everything is still healing well. I still have the stitches and they will be removed this Thursday. The swelling has gone down significantly. Unfortunately, I still have to wear the stylish sports bra 24/7 and can’t have a normal shower yet, but I’ll do whatever it takes so everything heals well.

Friday, I had the radiation simulation with Dr. B. For the simulation, I was placed on a CT scanner so measurements could be taken. These measurements allow the Dr. to plan the radiation treatment and know exactly how I need to be placed on the radiation machine during every treatment. I also received 4 little tattooed dots that map out the area for radiation. Sinead, the radiation technician, was extra careful to make the dots as small as possible (since I’ll have them forever) so I can still wear bathing suits and clothing without the dots being too noticeable. I have a “dry run” on Wednesday at 2pm and the first radiation treatment will be on Thursday. I’ll be going every day, Monday-Friday, for about 30 treatments. I may need a little less or a little more, but we won’t know until towards the end of the treatments.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Andy, my Mom, and I stuffed ourselves on Saturday with delicious Indian food, yum! Today we had Brunch with friends in Santa Monica at Casa Del Mar. It's a beautiful hotel right on the beaches of Santa Monica.

Thank you for the well wishes sent for my surgery and please keep sending those positive thoughts and prayers for the upcoming radiation treatments! I feel so lucky to have all of you in my life, thank you!

Love and hugs,
Sharishta

Finally getting Foobies!
04/30/10 10:43 PM

Foobies as defined in Urban Dictionary.com: The 'F' from 'fake' is taken and replaces the 'B' of 'boobies', resulting in: 'Foobies'.

I go in for surgery #2 on Monday May 3rd at 7 am to get my Foobies! I honestly couldn’t be more excited for Monday to get here so Dr. K can remove these rock-like tissue expanders that have been residing in my chest for the last 6 months. I had my last expansion on April 8th which puts me at 315 cc’s in each expander. To give you an idea, it’s a little less than a can of soda. So, you’re probably wondering what size did I tell Dr. K I want to be? cough cough C cough cough. Well, it turns out I can’t be any size I want because it’s relative to the size of my chest wall, which it turns out is on the small side. So no, I won’t look like Pamela Anderson or Heidi Montag. So I told Dr. K that I definitely wanted to be bigger than what I was originally and he said he would get me as big as possible. I figure if there’s one good thing that’s going to come out of all of this, then I want bigger boobs than what my momma gave me! Sorry Mom….

It’s been a little over a month since my last chemo treatment and I’ve been feeling well overall. My energy level has been pretty good, my appetite is normal, and I haven’t been feeling nauseous. Unfortunately, I’m still having hot flashes and they happen during the day and at night. Some days it feels like I have them every hour, and some days I don’t notice them as much. I have some restless nights because of them too. I’ve been doing yoga a few times a week and still doing acupuncture once a week and I think that it helps. Hopefully they’ll go away soon!

I don’t have much hair to report on. There’s very little and it’s like peach fuzz. I’ve lost most of my eyebrows and have been filling them in with eyebrow shadow. Luckily, the bangs on my wig hide the fact that there’s not much there. My eyelashes are still hanging on strong! I have a small patch that’s missing on my bottom right lashes, but not very noticeable. My toenails and fingernails have black lines running down the middle and black in some spots. I hope they don’t fall off! There’s a lady in my group who lost some of her fingernails after she was done with chemo. I’ve been keeping them painted so you can’t really tell they’re black.

I had my Herceptin treatment on April 15th. I had been getting Herceptin along with chemo, and now that I’m done with chemo, I’ll continue with Herceptin every 3 weeks for a year. I still go to the cancer center to get treatment. I could go to my oncologist’s office, but I would have to go from 9am-4pm and that would mean I would have to miss work. The cancer center is open 24 hours so I can go in the evening and not worry about missing work. The Herceptin infusion only drips for 45 minutes which is great compared to the 3+ hours with the chemo drugs. Andy came with me, and we were there for about an hour and a half. I don’t need to be given benadryl or decadron like I did with chemo, so that cuts the time down too. Since my infusion is short, I don’t get my own room anymore and instead I sit in one of the recliner chairs they have in the middle of the room. I felt fine when we got home and the next morning too. No side effects, yay!

On the weekend of April 17th, Andy and I went to Palm Springs for a night for a short get-away from LA. Palm Springs is East of Los Angeles in the desert. It’s only about 2 hours from LA so a lot of people go there for the weekend. The weather was great, high 80’s low 90’s. We left LA early Saturday and had brunch at the Parker. It’s a very trendy hotel popular with the young crowd. We stayed at Hotel Zoso which was nice too. The décor is trendy and retro-chic. I had my first alcoholic drink after 7 months of not drinking. I definitely was feeling it after a couple beers, haha. Cheap date! We went to happy hour at the bar before heading to dinner. We had dinner at Copley’s which was delicious and also very romantic at a table in their courtyard. Sunday morning we were up early and hung out by the pool before checking out. On our way back to LA there’s a dinosaur exhibit off the highway. There are 2 huge dinosaurs in the middle of the desert so we stopped to take some fun pictures. The dinosaurs have been in several music videos and movies such as Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. We had a great time in Palm Springs and it was a perfect get away from the crowded and busy streets of LA. I added some pictures from our trip to the photo gallery so check them out!

My friend Sarah from the Cape is coming next Thursday the 6th and I’m so excited to see her! I’m hoping I’ll be recovering well from Monday’s surgery so we can do some touristy things around LA before she leaves on Sunday morning. Sarah and Saint are going to Cabo San Lucas for a week with our friends Shaina and Phil. So lucky!

My mom is coming Sunday May 9th and will stay with us for a couple weeks. It’ll be nice to see her and get to spend some quality time with her. I’m hoping I can go back to work on May 10th, so my Mom will help take me to and from work since I’m not allowed to drive for 3 weeks after surgery. But we’ll see, I have to play it all by ear depending on I’m recovering and what my doctor says on the 6th when I go for my post-op appointment.

The fundraising for the Avon Walk is going unbelievably well. The turnout has been wonderful and Arleen and I are so grateful. Thank you!!

I don’t have much planned for the weekend, mostly taking it easy and getting ready for Monday. Thank you everyone for the love and support. I’ll write an update next week as soon as I can.

Love Sharishta

PS: the picture above is Remington looking very sexy with my one of my wigs (my gym wig, not the nice one, haha)
