May I Escort You to Your Table, Ms. Coy?

This year our summer vacation took us to Spain, Portugal, St. Malo France, and London. It was wonderful. The Mediterranean Sea continues to be my favorite water and beaches of anywhere I have been. We also took a cruise rather than bus/trains. It wasn't any cruise line, it was Silversea Cruises: smaller ships, five star amenities, and all inclusive. I am completely spoiled now. I doubt I would enjoy other cruises at all after such an exceptional vacation experience. In addition to amazing sites and new experiences I also got to really relax, unplug from everything, and just enjoy.

I also got break from chemo which helped me enjoy my vacation and regain a bit of energy. Unfortunately, it also increased my pain (stupid bone tumors) so I am taking a bit more pain meds than before my trip. On the plus side, just six days after resuming chemo, today I haven't needed any additional pain killers. At least the chemo helps with the bone tumors!

Sadly, several weeks before my trip, a fellow warrior and close friend died. Stefanie was unlike anyone else I know. She biked with Lance Armstrong across the country while her doctors here waited for her return to tell her the cancer was back. She worked throughout her stage IV treatment and even kept up with the rigors of biking (I cannot even remember all the races she did!) She adopted her daughter, moved houses, changed jobs and did all the things we do in our 30's ... plus doing chemotherapies, rounds of radiation, gamma knife and other procedures (including on her brain). Rest in peace my spunky, fun, and adventurous friend. I know Ann greeted you with open arms and I count myself lucky to call you my friend.

Tomorrow I leave town again for a wedding. With the reduced pain it should be a great weekend.
