Britton's Mom

This is Britton. I haven't posted on here in a while and this post is not about Jax.

My mom has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a month or so ago. Things are not going well. I'm just posting here to inform and to solicit as many prayers for her as I can.

Her name is Penny Thomas and she has a page on mylifeline.org.

Jacqueline Arcaris Civil Engineering Scholarship 2013

As some of you will remember a scholarship was established in Jax name for civil engineering students. I (Britton) is on the selection committee. I was reviewing this year's applicants and realized I probably never posted who the recipient was last year. So here she is.

Congratulations, Erin Keogh, the Colorado Section of ASCE has selected you as the recipient of the 2013 Jacqueline Arcais Civil Engineering Scholarship. After a careful review of all of the applications you were chosen for a $4,000 scholarship.

I'll post the 2014 recipient when he/she is chosen.

A narrative on Jax last day

Jacqueline’s life was full of adventure and wonder. Her final day was no exception. Britton and Kathy want to share the story with all of you so that Jax can continue to inspire us all to be as courageous, strong, and determined as she is. And so that you can share in what was a remarkable experience. It has taken Britton till now to be able to reread this narrative and have the strength to edit and post it.

The condition of Jax’ health during her stay in the hospital in Houston (Sunday 2/5/2012 through Tuesday 2/7/2012) was very difficult to watch. Our ox-strong, “kick-ass and take names”...

Messages for Jax

Hi everyone,
This is Britton. I wanted to ask if you all would leave a message/thought/memory/photo for Jax. Under the section "Eulogy" there is a tab called tributes. This is a good spot to leave a memory of Jax and also to read what others have written. I feel closer to her reading them. If you feel so inclined, please leave a message. Thank you.

Celebrate Jacqueline's Life

Well, it has been one year since Jax left on her grand adventure. Please join me to celebrate her life and what she meant to all of us. Bring yourself and a picture/thought/memory to share about Jax or what you have done to remember her and to live Arcariously. No need to bring anything else unless you have a specific drink that I might not have.

Friday Feb 8, 2013 6pm at my house.

I am sending an evite, but I'm sure I will miss people. If you see people that I haven't invited, please invite them. This is not an exclusive party, I want it all inclusive. Please RSVP sooner than later so I...

Live Arcariously

Hello everyone,
I have purchased some more stickers. They look like the image above and are 3 inches by 4 inches in size. If you want one or more, please send me an email at britton.thomas@gmail.com. I only ask for a small donation to offset the cost of printing them.

LiveArcariously.com does exist. At the present moment it redirects to mylifeline.org. In the future that may change.

Thank you everyone for your support.

Christmas/Holiday Card

Hello everyone,
Most of you should have received a Christmas/Holiday card from me/Jax by now (thanks to my mom for doing all the work to get the card out. It would still have not happened if I was doing it). I thought I would post it for those of you that may have not received one. Included with the card was a small note from me below.

Dear friends and family,
As most of you already know Jacqueline's health declined very quickly just before the holidays. For that reason our cards were not sent out as planned. A month later we were in Houston for her doctor's appointment when she became...

Mylifeline - Jockeys, Juleps & Jazz Gala

Mylifeline.org is hosting Jockeys, Juleps & Jazz, a fundraising gala.

In 2011, George Karl, NBA's Denver Nuggets head coach, was awarded recognition
for his work in the cancer community. As a member of MyLifeLine.org during his
personal struggle with cancer, he demonstrated the power of connection and
support and has been a loyal friend to our organization. This year, we honor
two members of the community in his name.

The Compassion Award will be presented to Jeremy Geffen, MD, a board-certified medical oncologist. He is a pioneer in the field of integrative medicine and oncology and...

Thank you Post from George Arcaris

Hello,

Britton, Susan and I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of support at the Pasadena Memorial last weekend.  It was a treasure to celebrate Jacqueline's life with family and old friends.

I want to thank my mom, especially, for planning a wonderful memorial and for raising such an extraordinary person in Jacqueline.

At my mother's request, I am posting the Eulogy I wrote below.  I have also attached a photo of Jacqueline and Britton taken during my visit in January:

George's Eulogy:
Jackie was the sweet little girl with a Dorothy Hammel haircut, a vibrant smile and a spirit that...
