Prayers Please

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We were able to enjoy a lot of time together as a family. However, on Saturday, my mom went to the emergency room because of extreme pain. The pain was located in her pelvis area and hip joints. The ER gave her some pain medication and steroids as an anti-inflammatory. She was then scheduled to have a PET scan on Tuesday and see her oncologist on Wednesday. The pain still continued, but as usual, my mom was super tough and able to make it to see the doctor. He reported that her PET scan revealed progression of the cancer in her bones and in the omentum (that fatty tissue in front of the pelvis). He gave my mom a new chemotherapy drug to try, and she received a dose that day, plus we are going to meet with the radiation doctor about her hips to hopefully alleviate the pain there.

To give you an idea of the progression, my mom's cancer marker (the blood counts they do) was around 930 this week. Last year at this time, we had it down around 150 or 200. When she first started treatment 3 years ago, it was like 750. I don't like the trend of her counts increasing, and am really praying that this new chemo works quickly. The doctor did mention that a side effect can be neuropathy (tingling in toes and hands). My mom has struggled with this before and it is tough. It can make you not want to walk. Please pray that this chemo works fast, with minimal side effects, and that the pain will go away. Thank you so much for supporting my mom through all of this. I will hopefully have a more positive update for you next time. Lots of love!
