Meeting God in the hospital.

Let me recap my stay in the hospital on Friday night we went to the emergency room because I had not had a bowel movement since Tuesday, and I was in distress to say the least.  They put an NG tube in me, that is the tube that runs up my nose down my throat and in to my stomach.  Even though is was very uncomfortable, it began to relieve some pressure so I was thankful to God for that.  So for the next three days I sat with the tube in, unable to eat or drink anything, I was able to mouth and whisper words but that was it.  I had a lot of family and friends come to visit an

One week in

Well, it has nearly a week since my first chemo treatment. It was a little surprising it took about 5 hours total. To see the doctor and sit through the chemo treatments. The only side affect was it left me very tired. Couples that with lack of sleep from before. So for the first few days when I wasn't working I was sleeping. As Elizabeth added below, I was sent home with a pump for 2 days following the chemo. I had that taken out on Saturday. Right now I'm feeling pretty good, the chemo nurse said it could be weeks before the affects are felt. Or it could be sooner, or not at all. Th

Back home, rested and ready to go!

Well, we got back from Rochester about 1 an hour and a half ago. I know a lot of people are waiting for an update. We were scheduled to meet the doctor at 1:15. They took us back about 1:45 and after the nurse did vitals she said the doctor would be a few minutes. After an hour went by I checked with the desk to see if he doctor would be much longer. We weren't upset, when you see the size of the place and see all the people they see, you realize there are a lot of people with problems just as big, if not bigger than yours. It helps to keep things in perspective. Further, when feelings of

Pressing Forward.

Well, it has been awhile since we last talked, sorry about that. While we have been waiting to go to the Mayo clinic, the Lord has bee working in other areas. One of the things we needed to get done was a new roof for the house. We had set aside money to do just that. Then of course cancer came out of left field. Well, just like before when my job was eliminated, God provided a better one. When we were in a 2 bedroom house with 4 growing kids, with no way that we could see getting out of it. God made a way. A flood came along and we put our trust in the Lord, to see what He would do. Not t

My ways are not your ways, My thoughts are not your thoughts.

So we have been waiting to hear back from the Mayo Clinic, to see what they might do for treatment. By waiting, I mean we have been calling and making sure they had all that they needed. Which isn't a bad thing because there was some confusion on my medical file between Mercy and Mayo. So Mayo received all my records on Wednesday of last week. We were told it would take 2-3 days for the doctors to go over everything, and then they would call and set up an appointment, but they were scheduling out into June. They didn't say early June or late, but either way if we were to wait to go to Mayo

Hurry up and wait.

Well when we first got the diagnosis we were stunned to say the least. We pretty much thought, well lets get the port put in and get started. Then a retired Doctor at our church strongly suggested we get a 2nd opinion. So we contacted the MAYO clinic in Minnesota. However because computer upgrades they weren't able to take new patience for a week, so in the mean time we went ahead and had my port put in. Then there was a little miscommunication between Mercy hospital and Mayo. So they finally received my records on Wednesday, and they need 2-3 days to review them before can see, us so we
