Back home, rested and ready to go!
Well, we got back from Rochester about 1 an hour and a half ago. I know a lot of people are waiting for an update. We were scheduled to meet the doctor at 1:15. They took us back about 1:45 and after the nurse did vitals she said the doctor would be a few minutes. After an hour went by I checked with the desk to see if he doctor would be much longer. We weren't upset, when you see the size of the place and see all the people they see, you realize there are a lot of people with problems just as big, if not bigger than yours. It helps to keep things in perspective. Further, when feelings of anxiety began to build we just turned it over to the Lord in prayer and anxiety was replaced with peace. The staff apologized for the wait and said the doctor would be there shortly, she was a little behind and she had a resident with her. To make a long story short, the doctor confirmed what the doctor at Mercy was saying. She said that after the chemo there maybe other options, even surgery perhaps. But the course of action at Mercy was the same that they would do at Mayo. She mentioned the chemo mixture, and we confirmed with the nurse at Mercy, that they were using the same chemo drugs. Basically the doctor there confirmed that the doctors here are on top of the latest therapies. The only thing she said different is she thought the median time of 2 years was a bit low. But she, like the doctors here didn't like to give time frames. They can't see the future and they don't know how people respond to chemo. She just felt with today's therapies being far more advanced than even 5 years ago, and they change all the time. That we shouldn't resign ourselves to just 2 years. She also made herself available to us or our doctors here anytime. She was very encouraging and we were not disappointed either. We went with the mindset that they may have a different course to take, but would likely confirm what we had been told. So as I mentioned before, we called Molly the nurse for the doctor here and already scheduled my first chemo appointment for Thursday. Because of the holiday appointments are full and Thursday was the soonest they could get me in. So here we go. Thanks for all your prayers an support, God Bless
We uploaded some pictures of the old and new roof. We are so thankful to our family and the Lord for his supply in our lives.
