Four Down – Five to go

The Last Flowers of Spring

We’ve been enjoying beautiful spring weather until today. Today the weather turned into Seattle. We have had lots of lovely rain. We had a forest fire in the foothills below Lake Tahoe so the rain is fully appreciated. Our walks are becoming shorter and slower as I develop anemia and low blood pressure.

Today was chemo day, and I had my fourth infusion. Yesterday’s pre-chemo blood test was barely fine for today’s infusion, but by this morning my WBC had dropped from 2.9 to 1.9. Since my chemo schedule moves to Wednesdays starting next week, Dr. Bowman asked me to come in for blood tests two days before. He mentioned the possibility of canceling or delaying my infusion. “We’ll see,” is commonly used around here.

We are determined to be at Mom’s for her and Don’s wedding. It was somewhat distressing to miss celebrating birthdays and Mothers Day in Walla Walla. Greeting Don on the phone was a highlight for today. If we’re really fortunate, Don will get to fly out to Reno in mid-July while Mom, Dixie and Casey are here to see us for a few days. So much wonderful stuff to look forward to!

Fatigue from anemia is fully anticipated over the next couple of weeks so blog updates may be a little scarce. I’m looking forward to my next transfusion!

Meanwhile, I’ve gained back most of the weight I lost and Dakota is joyfully a smidge below 146…a goal he believed was impossible. He loves seeing his toes without bending over and I think he is an even more incredibly handsome fellow! The weather will be more appropriate by Thursday, so Dakota is planning on a golf day. Ain’t life great?
