Good news everyone!

So, chemo is finished and and we went back to MD Anderson on Monday.  My CT scans and labwork were all normal, so I am officially in remission!  We are all very excited and thankful for all of the support, thoughts, and prayers.  We will have to continue to follow up and watch things closely for the next several years but this is a huge step.  Now the focus is on getting better and getting back to work.

Good times, bad times

We had a little bit of a setback this week.  I had been feeling pretty weak over the weekend and Monday/Tuesday, but nothing too extreme.  Wednesday was much worse.  I developed a fever and chills and became extremely weak.  I basically couldn't get out of bed.  I was concerned so we decided to go to the ER.  I received some antibiotics and had some labwork done, and they decided to monitor me in the hospital overnight.  I felt better Thursday and was able to come back home Thursday afternoon.  Luckily it doesn't look like there is any active infection, the fever may have been due to the...

Almost there!

Hello. Wanted to let y'all know how it is going. Tim is hanging in there, he has had some complications this past week but he is handling them well. Hopefully, he will move past them soon. Five more days until the third and final cycle begins! We are still humbled by all of the love, support, calls, cards, yummy food, and prayers we have received. It really has made the biggest impact on our ability to get through this. Thank you all!

Silver linings

Hi everyone! We are just going steady right now, 26 days until Tim's last treatment!! The past weekend was really difficult but we got through it with a lot of help. I would just like to say how incredibly supportive and helpful so many people have been and esp, Tim's parents, his medical team, and my sisters. There is a sense of peace that happens after you go through a tough situation and people around you immediately take the burden and work to prevent it from happening in the future.

This year, Tim and I will celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. Of course, I am biased and think...

Round 2

Today is the first day of the 2nd cycle of chemo.  We got some good news, my white blood cell count came up significantly, which allowed us to start treatment without having to delay it, which is huge.  I feel ok right now, this weekend was pretty brutal as the drug I got to raise my white blood cells causes significant bone pain.  It felt like my back, hips, and legs were on fire.  That has gotten better as well.  We are now in the single digits of full day treatments.  4 this week and 5 in cycle 3 (not that I'm counting or anything).  I can't wait to be done, both for me and for Jordan...

Update

This is Jordan. I struggled with the decision to write this update because we are having a tough time. I am doing this because we chose to be open about this process and feel it's important to show the good and the not so good. Even with all of the wonderful support and love, this process sucks. There are good days and bad days. This is a bad day.

Tim's white blood cell count is super low. This means he is getting shots 1x/day yesterday, today, and tomorrow to try and stimulate the wbc count. If this doesn't work, he can't start cycle 2 of chemo on Monday. While he is anxious about it...

The hair has hit the fan...

I shaved Tim's head tonight. Such a difference between last time and now. Last time, we were really sad about it because it seems like such serious moment capturing what is happening everywhere else. This time, it was funny and we were joking around.A barber, I am not!  I feel like we are so much more at peace this time and optimistic about everything.

Before I shaved it completely off, I had to trim it, so...I made it look like Lloyd's hair(Jeff Daniels) in Dumb and Dumber and it was pretty amazing.

I'm still here

Just checking in, it's been a while but I'm doing OK.  The nausea is still well controlled but I'm really just worn out.  I can do OK in the morning, but around 2-3 in the afternoon I'm spent and have to go lay down.  Overall, this is a much better experience than last time thanks to Dr. Khan and his staff.

My white blood cell count is very low right now so I have to be careful what I eat and who I'm around as I'm very susceptible to infections.  Also, my hair is finally starting to fall out so Jordan is shaving my head tonight.  We have the rest of this week off, then start back with daily...
